What this is
shaadi.diy is a shared planning workspace for an Indian wedding: guest lists organised by household and side, per-event invitations and RSVPs collected over WhatsApp, budgets in rupees that keep allocated and paid apart, vendor payment schedules, guest accommodation, events, tasks, and a public wedding website with an RSVP form that writes back into the same guest list.
It exists because the alternative — a spreadsheet, four WhatsApp groups and one person holding the real numbers in their head — stops working at exactly the point a wedding gets expensive.
Why you might trust what is written here
- The guides are written by the people who build the product, not by a content agency. When a guide says a per-event guest list changes three other numbers, that is describing a data model we had to build.
- The code is open source and readable. You can check what the product actually does rather than taking a marketing page at its word.
- Where we publish money figures, we label them as planning bands rather than survey data, and we say what would make them wrong.
- We publish no reviews, ratings or testimonials, and no review schema, because we have none that are verifiable. Inventing them is against Google policy and against the point.
What we are not: a vendor marketplace, a booking agent, or a source of survey statistics. We take no commission from any vendor, so nothing on this site is steering you toward a caterer who pays us.

Who writes the guides on this site?
The team that builds shaadi.diy. The guides describe the planning problems the product was built around — guest counts that drive catering, vendor commitments that outrun payments, RSVPs that arrive on WhatsApp — so what is written and what is built come from the same place. There is no ghostwritten byline and no invented expert.
How is shaadi.diy free?
The planning workspace and the wedding website are free and there is no card required. The project is open source, so the code is inspectable and self-hostable. If a paid tier ever exists it will be for things that cost us money to run, and the guest list, budget and website will not move behind it.
Where do the cost figures come from?
They are planning bands built up from per-plate catering and venue costs, and every page that shows money says so. They are not survey data and we do not present them as such — their purpose is to tell you whether a quote is in a sane range before you have collected three of your own.
How do I report a problem or ask for a feature?
Open an issue on the GitHub repository, or write to hello@shaadi.diy. Bugs that lose planning data are treated as the highest priority.
