Terms of use

The agreement

By creating an account or using shaadi.diy you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use the service. Where these terms and the privacy policy overlap, the privacy policy governs how we handle data.

What the service is

A free wedding planning workspace and public wedding website builder. Accounts are for people aged 18 or over. We are not a vendor marketplace, a booking agent or a payment processor: we take no commission from any vendor, we do not contract with your caterer, and we never hold or move your money. Every arrangement you make with a venue, caterer, photographer or hotel is between you and them.

Your account

• Keep your password to yourself. Activity under your account is treated as yours.
• Give us an email address you actually control — it is how account recovery works.
• When you invite family members or a planner, you choose what they can see. Those choices are yours to review; we act on the access you granted.
• Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access to your account.

Your content stays yours

You keep ownership of everything you put in: your guest list, your photos, your text, your budget. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service — to store it, to display it to the people you have given access, to publish it on the public wedding site you choose to publish, and to send the messages you ask us to send. That permission ends when you delete the content.

Your guests’ data is your responsibility

You are entering other people’s names and phone numbers. By doing so you confirm you have a proper basis for holding those details and for contacting them about your wedding, and that you will honour a guest who asks to be removed. Do not use the service to send anything to anyone who is not an invited guest.

WhatsApp

Messaging features run on Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform and are additionally governed by Meta’s terms and policies. Meta reviews message templates, enforces the rule that a first message must use an approved template, and may restrict a sending number that receives complaints. We cannot override any of that, and we are not responsible for a delivery failure or account restriction imposed by Meta.

Acceptable use

• Do not use the service for bulk messaging unrelated to your own wedding.
• Do not upload content you do not have the right to publish, or content that is unlawful, hateful or obscene.
• Do not attempt to access another account or wedding, or to probe, scan or overload the infrastructure. Responsible security research is welcome — email us first.
• Do not resell the hosted service as your own. The source is open, so you are free to self-host it under its licence instead.

We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these rules, and will say why unless doing so would be unlawful.

It is free, which has consequences

There is no charge and no card, and there is correspondingly no uptime guarantee, no support SLA and no promise that any particular feature will exist forever. If we retire something you rely on, we will give notice and an export route. Your practical protection is that the project is open source and the data exports to a spreadsheet — you are never locked in.

Availability and changes

We may change, add or remove features, and we may need to take the service down for maintenance. We aim to keep planning data intact through every such change; that is the one thing we treat as non-negotiable.

Warranties and liability

The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. Planning figures the product shows you — cost bands, per-plate estimates, category splits — are planning aids, not financial advice, and the numbers on your wedding are yours to verify. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost bookings, or loss of data you have not exported. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Ending it

You can delete a wedding or close your account at any time. We may close an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms. On closure, your data is deleted as described in the privacy policy — export anything you want to keep first.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection you have where you live.
